We will explore the Data Cycle and how to integrate data science concepts into your K-12 classroom instruction. This session introduces the K-12 progression of math standards vital to data science, emphasizing the significance and interconnectedness of all teachers’ roles, regardless of grade level. Participants will receive grade-specific Data Cycle lessons tailored for K-5, middle school, and high school bands.
Exploring the Happiness Equation
Using Linear Regression, Scatterplots, and Residual Analysis to Understand Well-being
Dive into the world of data analysis using technology to uncover hidden patterns and insights in data related to happiness and life satisfaction. We will cover introductory techniques for using data science to teach linear functions while integrating standards for mathematical practice through a statistical lens. Participants will engage in and receive a full lesson plan focused on regression using data from the World Happiness Report.

Explore the vertical alignment of statistical learning across all grade levels starting from early number sense in kindergarten all the way to advanced data analysis in high school. Using Inferential Statistics to Analyze Song Lyrics
What’s love got to do with it? In this workshop, participants will construct and interpret linear and exponential regression models. We will focus on identifying the best-fit model through residual analysis. Participants will engage in and receive a full lesson plan focused on regression analysis with data drawn from song lyrics.
